Accessibility statement
Mandil wants everyone to be able to read and use this site. This page sets out what has been done, what was tested and what is still limited.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
The target
The site was built with the aim of meeting WCAG 2.2 at level AA. This is an engineering target; the site has not had an external accessibility audit or certification, and we do not claim full conformance.
What has been done
- Semantic structure: headings in order, and defined navigation, main-content and footer regions.
- A “Skip to main content” link at the start of every page.
- Everything can be done with the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Pop-ups (menu, gallery, cookie preferences) keep focus inside them, close with Escape and return focus to the button that opened them.
- Every photo has alternative text in all three languages.
- Form fields have labels, and error messages are written in text and linked to their field.
- Language and reading direction are set on every page: Hebrew and Arabic right-to-left, English left-to-right.
- The site respects the operating system’s “reduce motion” setting and then shows all content immediately.
- Content adapts to narrow screens (from 320 pixels) and to text enlarged up to 200% from the accessibility menu.
The accessibility menu
A button in the corner of the screen offers settings for reading (text size up to 200%, text spacing, a readable font), display (light and dark high contrast, highlighted links and headings), motion (stop animations) and mouse navigation (large cursor, reading guide). The menu is a convenience only; it does not replace the accessibility of the site itself and is not evidence of conformance.
What was tested
Testing was carried out on 4 October 2026 in the Chromium browser:
- An automated axe-core check of every page in all three languages.
- Keyboard testing of navigation, menus, the gallery, the form, cookie preferences and the accessibility menu.
- Display checks at widths from 320 to 1920 pixels, with text enlarged to 200% and in both high-contrast schemes.
Known limitations
- The site has not been tested with screen readers (such as VoiceOver or NVDA), on physical devices, or in Safari and Firefox.
- The tagline inside the official logo is pale and does not meet the text contrast ratio. The logo is shown as supplied, and the association’s name also appears as ordinary text.
- The photos were taken at events; the alternative text describes what is visible and does not identify the people.
- Links to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook lead to external sites whose accessibility we do not control.
